These are, hands down, the best pair of shoes I have ever owned in my life.
They helped get me through my thesis defense.
They helped me project a confidence I did not feel, the first time I presented at a conference.
They’re old friends. Solid, comfortable, hardworking boots who will get you to where you’re going.
So when Lisa at My Ecdysis issued the invitation to virtually lob shoes at Bush, I knew just the pair of boots for the job.
These boots are hurled at Bush, for Moro and Lumad children who have been displaced by violence and militarization, as the Bush-instigated War against Terror tears into Mindanao.
These boots are hurled for the eight children, aged four to sixteen, who were detained and subjected to psychological torture because their fathers were suspected Abu Sayaf sympathizers. For the thirteen-year-old girl forced to watch as members of the US-backed Special Operations Forces pointed guns at her father’s head and knives at the necks of other children. For the children who were dragged into the forest and ordered to dig their fathers’ graves.
Bush’s War against Terror has wreaked havoc on the lives of countless Moro and Lumad children in Mindanao, who suffer because of a war that they don’t understand. A war that has raged throughout their lives.
I wonder if Bush is even aware of these children, whose young lives continue to be destabilized by his shameful legacy.
Awesomeness!
Happy Inauguration Day!
